Salient’s President, Chris Ward entered the finance world after college but found something was missing. He saw families stressing about money and their financial future, and wanted to provide a place to help them sleep easier at night.
Chris was born and raised in Mankato and wanted to bring this preparedness back to his home town, so Salient Financial was born. He started by helping his hometown and the surrounding areas plan their financial futures and managing the wealth that they had built.

Christopher A. Ward
Chris was born and raised in Mankato, attending Mankato East High school before enrolling in Augustana College (University). There, he studied mathematics and economics while playing on the Viking baseball team, graduating cum laude before entering the world of finance.
From a young age, Chris has displayed the vision and leadership skills necessary to succeed in financial advisement. In establishing his own venture, he hopes to create trusted and long-lasting relationships with his clients through transparent communication and prudent portfolio management.
Outside of work, Chris volunteers with the youth ministry at church, as well as with Junior Achievement and the United Way at their Mankato branches. His hobbies are watching East High School sporting events, and sharing his love of baseball through coaching. He is proud to say that he is now coaching his son, Eli, in football, baseball, and basketball.
Chris lives in Madison Lake with his wife, Jessica, and three kids, Elijah, Emery, and Gabe.
